| New Release - Axis Mundi Ep |
[May. 5th, 2012|10:25 am] |
Axis Mundi Ep
The title track, "Axis Mundi", revolves literally around the idea of its namesake. The sound of a Jacobs Ladder creates the core central rhythm which is yet another incarnation of the theme. An attempt at representing both ascending, and descending, movement around the cosmic axis.
The second track, "Strange Loop", is patterned after the ideas set forth in the book Gödel, Escher, Bach: An Eternal Golden Braid around the concept of a Strange Loop. Specifically in relation to recursion, the fugue compositional technique, and Johann Sebastian Bach.
"Axis Mundi" is the fourth work released in conjunction with the netlabel Webbed Hand Records. For more information on the release, and to get information on the many other excellent releases on the label, please visit the site.

| New Release - Musica Universalis Ep |
[Apr. 18th, 2010|05:22 pm] |
Musica Universalis Ep "Musica Universalis" is two works of otherworldly Musique Concrete. The title track is based on the concept of Music of the Spheres and is composed primarily of sounds generated by astronomical objects. The "maddening beating of vile drums and the thin monotonous whine of accursed flutes" of the final track echoes the Lovecraftian mythos of the blind idiot god Azathoth and his mad dance at the center of the universe. "Musica Universalis" is the third work released in conjunction with the netlabel Webbed Hand Records. For more information on the release, and to get information on the many other excellent releases on the label, please visit the site. The album and related artwork is available for download via the Internet Archive. |

| New Release-Tales of Adventure Ep |
[Feb. 28th, 2008|11:22 am] |
|
"Tales of Adventure" is comprised of two tracks, each its own unique tableau. Track one, "Nautilus", finds its inspiration in the voyages of Captain Nemo and his vessel the Nautilus as told by Jules Verne. The second track, "Deadeye" comes from the distinctive visions of the Wild West as seen through the lens of the Spaghetti Western. Both pieces hold true to the tradition of Musique Concrete and are assembled from entirely acoustic source material.
"Tales of Adventure" is the second work released in conjunction with the netlabel Webbed Hand Records. For more information on the release, and to get information on the many other excellent releases on the label, please visit the site.

| The Dot and the Line |
[Aug. 7th, 2007|03:11 pm] |
Finally found this! This was one of my favorite cartoons. The beatnik style and music are absolutely fabulous! Almost a discourse on abstract art as I interpret it now really.
Though I think the line can do better than that fickle dot! |

| El Topo |
[Feb. 3rd, 2007|11:16 am] |
|
El Topo by Jodorowsky opened this week at the Grand Illusion. I urge everyone in the Seattle area to go see this film. It is extremely rare to see it, and I don't think it has been seen in a theater since the 70's. This is one of my favorite films of all time by one of my favorite directors. I saw it last night and I must say the print is amazing. Truly a cinematic experience. How can you possibly go wrong with a metaphysical western?!?!

| Flashback |
[Jan. 24th, 2007|04:26 pm] |
I was utterly fascinated with this cartoon when I was younger. There was such an obvious psychedelic slant to so many things in the 70's. Sad to see it all disappear.

| RAW has passed |
[Jan. 11th, 2007|12:55 pm] |
One of the last great visionaries of our times has passed. This man was a HUGE influence on me. If you have not read his books, I strongly suggest you do so.
Robert Anton Wilson RIP
Hail Eris!
Fnord..........
As a perfect synchronicity that I am sure RAW would appreciate, Albert Hofmann celebrates his 101st birthday the same day. |
